Public Pavilion for Victoria Park, Edmonton AB. The athlete's perception of space is intrinsically linked to "the space in between."  There is the distance between you and the competitor, between you and the finish line.  For skaters, skiers, cyclists, the space between the earth and the body is all-important: be it occupied by ground conditions (ice, snow, or road), or tools (skate, ski, bicycle).  This design explores the intersection of earth and sky, where opposing forces create the motion of the athlete.
